CareerMoving back to the UK, Jonathan Alexander Abt achieved a Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1997; in 2000 he gained his Specialist Title in Orthodontics from the General Dental Council; and he was Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics between 2007 and 2012.

Jonathan Alexander Abt’s first employment was as an Air Force Dentist with the IDF in Israel, where he served between 1986 and 1988, moving on to become an Anatomy Demonstrator with the Beer Sheva Medical School in Israel. Staying in the same role, Jonathan Alexander Abt moved to the USA to continue his career as an Anatomy Demonstrator. Between 1992 and 2002, Jonathan Alexander Abt worked at the Hitchin Orthodontic Clinic in Hertfordshire, England as an Associate Orthodontist, and from 1998 until 2000 he was also a Locum Consultant in Orthodontics at Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
Jonathan Alexander Abt was the Practice Principal at Inline Orthodontics in Stevenage, Hertfordshire from 2002 until 2015, after which he worked in several private practices in numerous locations, before settling into an NHS practice on the Isle of Man in 2018.
During his career in medicine, Jonathan Alexander Abt has had several papers published in medical journals. Abt’s paper, ‘Resin-Modified Glass Ionomer Cement vs Composite for Orthodontic Bonding: A Multicentre Single-Blind, Randomised Controlled Trial’, was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics in 2019, which followed the earlier publication of his paper titled, ‘An Investigation of the Relationship of the Curve of Spee to Skeletal Pattern: A Pilot Study’. Other publications that have featured work by Jonathan Alexander Abt include the Orthodontic Business Supplement and the American Journal of Orthodontics.
